Thanks to everyone who voted to help us pick our Halloween costumes! We went with Wizard of Oz, and we had a blast at our annual Halloween party 🙂 Here is some info about our costumes! We found all three at Party City and found the process of finding and trying on costumes very easy! They had a wall of pictures of costumes, and when you find the ones you would like to try on, you just tell the employee the costume number and they bring it to you very quickly. Unfortunetly, Kent had to work at the last minute and wasn’t able to join in the fun of the party 🙁 Had he been able to join, he would have been a kool looking skeleton dude instead of a Wizard of Oz person because they just didn’t have any costumes for men that he liked. Although he did come up with the idea of being a yellow brick, which I thought was pretty awesome 🙂
This costume was so cute and fun 🙂 It was a bit itchy, but worth it! The costume wasn’t very accommodating for nursing, but I just took a break from the party when it was nursing time. Parker seems to develop ADHD anyway when its time to nurse, so it was better without distractions 😉
This costume was super cute 🙂 Trinity said it was a little bit uncomfortable and itchy, but I think it was worth it 🙂 She also wore some white shorts underneath because it was a little short. Overall, we liked it 🙂
I was worried that Parker wouldn’t wear the Lion head, but as long as he was distracted, he was good. He didn’t seem to mind it, but when he realized it was there he felt the need to play with it and tug it off his head. Therefore, the costume didn’t last long, but we got pics 🙂 Living in Southern Louisiana, I also guessed it was going to be super hot, which of course it was, and the costume was definitely made for yankee babies. Trinity and I thought ahead and purchased a brown onesie and some sticky velcro. The tail on the costume is removable (velcro), so we were able to transfer it easily to the onesie. The head piece is also detached, so the lion easily became Louisiana friendly.
For our halloween party, we always go over and beyond and decorate like crazy. My parents started the tradition when they were teenagers, and we have continued all these years. My college roommate from back in the day (Cersei in the first pic) and I, hosted the party for a few years (buying way too many decorations with our student loan money), and we have acquired many ideas over the years! This year we opted to rent a halloween themed bouncer for the kids since all of us have been busy reproducing in recent years, and it was a huge hit. Parker even loved it.
I made monster eye devilled eggs by dyeing the filling green with food coloring and adding an olive for the eye ball. Our friends brought tons of creative dishes like a avocado pumpkin, ghost covered strawberries, mummy sausages, and a graveyard dirt cake. Of course, I had to also include the Little Debbie Fall cakes since they are Kent’s favorite, and who can pass up frosted cookies? Not me! We had a blast and can’t wait to wear our costumes again for Halloween night!
